In the Kitchen

It is no secret...spending the holidays at Gramma's house mean you will be well fed!  This is a time when Gramma makes all the traditional (aka totally bad for you and completely delicious) goodies.  She even let Troy and Simon "help" her!

Troy called Gramma's pantry "RITZ"...as it housed his favorite snack

Stretching the Retach dough (Retach is a Hungarian strudel)
More stretching
Putting on the potatoes (or TOPE as Troy calls them)
Adding the bacon

and then rollllllllling it up
Troy was on clean-up duty
Buttering the pan
Time for a taste-test!
Is this enough cinnamon on the apple pie, Gramma?
I'll taste it to make sure
Gramma...it is perfect!
Tasting noodles with Papa
Cutting the noodles for soup
Oh Gingerbread man...I cannot save you...for you are too yummy
Yup...definitely yummy
Hmmmm....I might just need stretchier pants....

Indoor Pursuits

As mentioned, the weather did not always allow for outside time.  But that didn't mean we didn't get lots of playtime!  There was always something to do or someone to play with.  Troy's vocabulary really grew over the holidays.  He chattered all day long.  He even woke up talking (usually asking for Gramma and Papa...his favorite playmates!).  He also surprised us one afternoon when he was stacking his blocks and counted from 1 - 9.!

Crafting with Gramma
Colouring our caterpillar
Daddy built me a robot.  This robot has been in Mommy's family for over 20 years...
and every grandchild has enjoyed (or been terrified of) it.  So, this year it was my turn.
I wasn't scared...I liked it!

"Gruff-ing" with Gramma before bedtime

Outside!!

We had a chance to experience a wide range of weather in Taber.  From arriving in a snowstorm amid frigid temperatures to being blown away by warm chinook winds...we spent most of our time indoors.  However, we did take every opportunity (as few as they were) to get out on the gulley.

Can we go outside yet??
(note: that buffalo is not real...otherwise we would NEVER have gone outside)
Enjoying a crisp, clear day
Me and my shadow...er...Sammy
Daddy and me on the Gulley
Gramma joined us too!  (Her knee is healing really well)
I should put some of these rocks in my pocket so I don't blow away!
C'mon Sam...let's go see what's over there...
Me and Papa exploring
Hanging out with the boys
All this fresh air has made me hungry....for one of Gramma's cookies!

Holly Jolly Christmas

We're back!!  We had so much fun celebrating the holiday season with family in Alberta.  I will let the photos tell the story :)  I had to split up the photos into several posts...so better get yourself some snacks and settle in!

Making myself comfortable at Gramma and Papa's house
Playing Machacek-opoly (I was in charge of all the spare game pieces...
it was a really important job...at least Gramma said so)
Wheeeeee....higher Papa, higher....
