Waterton

When deciding where to go camping with Auntie C and Jude, this year, we settled on Waterton. Perhaps is was nostalgia that drew us there.  It had been years since Auntie C and Mommy had been to summer camp there - over three decades, in fact!!  Now it was time to find out what had changed...and (mostly) what had not :)

Mighty Camp Columbus as it stands today.
The only change we could see was that the wooden sign under the bell no longer existed.

Back at camp - Summer 2015
The Rustler all settled in at our townsite campsite.
The iconic Cameron Falls
Thankfully, the only bears we saw were carved of wood :)
Hey lil' bear
Enjoying some ice cream - with a view of the Prince of Wales hotel
Troy had a "tester" size
Jude went for the bigger size (yes...Troy noticed!)
Daddy was more interested in "Weiners of Waterton"
Time for bed!
Or rather...time for flashlight wars...in bed!
Some morning colouring time
Staying in the lines
Red Rock Canyon
So red
and peaceful with the trickling water
The mountain peaks here are stunning
Hiking hand in hand
Checking out the canyon
Canyon Cohorts
Onwards we go! (back to the campsite...for lunch!)
Wildlife sighting - a moose!
Taking a dip in Waterton Lake's glacier water
Chilly Willy
Daddy rescued me
Watching the fire-fighting helicopters fly by
Jude skipping rocks
Hmmm....I think....
Maybe, I need some war paint?
These red rocks make for good painting
What do you think...do I need more?
Oh yeah...
I am a Waterton warrior!!

(Jude is wearing Mommy's camp shirt from 30 years ago!)
Did I get dip on my war paint?
Time to take a break from our game for some "fun dip"
Liking the licking
Camping is fun!!!
Surprisingly we had NO wind for two days (so RARE for Waterton)
However, on the last morning...the wind came up and so did the smoke from the forest fires.
The haze you see in this photo is smoke.
The helicopter with water bucket
Landing for refuelling

Hey Mommy...are we going home now?
We are glad that Waterton hasn't changed much :)
