Back to School Haircut

No, Troy isn't going to school yet...but, Mommy is!!  While she was away at class, Daddy was brave enough to attempt taking Troy for a haircut.  We are so proud to report that Troy:
1.  Put on a cape (which he has NEVER allowed)
2.  Sat in a chair (by himself...without parental restraint!)
3.  Did not shed a tear, scream or throw a tantrum

This is considered a HUGE success and a major milestone.  Troy did get to go to the toy store afterward as a reward.  He chose yet ANOTHER costume - this time it was Ant Man.

Just a little off the back
Evening out the top
A little hair gel...and Voila!
The big reward :)

Riding...er...wading the Trail

Due to all the rain we have had recently, our trail by the river has been flooded.  But, that doesn't stop Daddy and Troy!

Pirate Party

Troy's friend, David, turned four.  He had a pirate-themed party at the beach.  Aaaaaargh it was fun!
Building a sandcastle with David
Putting on the final touches
Can we have cupcakes now??

Here is Troy's turn...

Blue Rock

Last week we went camping at Blue Rock (where we were supposed to go camping the last time...before we took the wrong turn!)  It is a beautiful spot along the Sheep River.

Found the river...and the rocks!

Lots of rocks to throw...

We have this WHOLE forest to explore...

In my pajamas!
Our campsite backed onto a view of the Sheep River
I can hear it from here!
Prickly!
Let's go this way!

RIO

To get ourselves in the spirit of "Rio" for the Olympics, Troy watched the movie Rio (and Samba'ed).  Then, after watching the actual Olympics, he figured he could be a gymnast.  You be the judge :)

Garden update

Well, even IF my garden could have survived two bouts of hail...it sure could not withstand the SLUGS!!  Sadly, I have to report that all the plants have been either decimated by hail, eaten by slugs or pulled out of their misery.

Here is my garden (before)...starting to show a few slug bite-marks
This is our "harvest" for the year...6 potatoes and 1 cucumber
Or, as Troy calls it...a "pickle gun"
What was left after the hail storms.  I couldn't bring myself to rip it all out...until....
Here was the "final straw"...the slugs cleaned off an entire head of romaine in one night!

Now...it is ALL GONE....take that, slugs!

Happy Faces

Troy still loves to draw and paint...and all his art includes at least one "happy face" :)

Jellyfish
(Troy started to draw a cat...then he added too many legs...so he decided it was a jellyfish instead!
and yes...it was drawn on my morning newspaper)

The start of a new piece of art
Finishing touches
Something smiley :)
